4G phones on the rise in the US

It has been reported that a rising number of phones are being released in the United States with 4G capabilities, with one third of Android phones already having 4G connectivity.

With more and more people expressing an interest in the benefits of 4G mobile broadband networks, a rising number of manufacturers are realizing the need to bring more 4G enabled devices to market as consumers try to make the most of 4G networks as they are rolled out on a more widespread basis.

According to a recent report one third of Android phones in the United States are now equipped with 4G capabilities and the number of handsets with this capability is set to increase quite quickly according to officials from app analytics firm Localytics, which carried out the recent research.

Daniel Ruby, director of online marketing at Localytics, said that the number of 4G smart phones had already increased, adding: “What’s more, this number is increasing rapidly — since the beginning of the year, the percentage of Android devices that are 4G-capable has grown by over 50%, culminating at a full third of the Android ecosystem.”

A number of Android smart phone manufacturers offer 4G capable handsets and the communications giant Telstra has recent revealed that it is working with HTC to bring a new HTC 4G smart phone to market next year, which will add to the choice that consumers have with regards to which smart phone they choose in order to benefit from being able to use 4G networks as they become increasingly widespread.
